Thomas Trutna, Architect
Owner and Principal Architect Tom Trutna graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1978 with bachelors degrees in Architecture (with honors) and Architectural Engineering.  He is NCARB certified, licensed in Texas since 1984, Idaho since 2007, ICC certified as a building, plumbing and mechanical plans examiner, is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified and is a member in good standing of the American Institute of Architects.

Tom spent the first six years of his career with commercial-oriented architectural firms and since that time has been a sole practitioner with the exception of a five year span in the early 1990's when he was a partner in Terra Verde, LLC.  Terra Verde was a design-build firm for hign-end residential projects and introduced rammed earth and adobe construction to the Austin area.  These homes also featured passive heating and cooling, rainwater harvesting, recycled building materials and other green building technologies.  His passion has always been in residential design and has worked on everything from kitchen remodels to 14,000 square foot custom homes.

A native of Texas, Tom spent the first 25 years of his career in and around Austin, Texas.  He was active in his local school districts as a volunteer,  treasurer of the North Austin Rotary Club,  board member of the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce and a member of the City of Sunset Valley zoning commission.  He and his wife Lisa relocated to Boise's North End in 2005 in order to be near their children and to experience life in the Pacific Northwest.
